Flights went as smoothly and painlessly as could be expected. Had enough time in Seattle to grab a snack and drink in the lounge. Seattle-Heathrow I slept a good deal of the time. A couple of hours in a very nice lounge in Heathrow, then a short hop to Paris. Picked up the bags and taxied to the apartment near Place de Bastille. Snack and glass of wine at the bar next door and crashed.
In the morning we set out to explore a bit on foot. Nothing specific, just stretch the legs and get a feel for the city. Our apartment is not far from the Seine. We walked down to the river, through Ile Saint-Louis, and then over to Ile de la Cite. The line to enter Notre Dame was long but fast moving, so we were able to tour the cathedral along with a few thousand of our closest friends. The repairs made since its catastrophic fire in 2019 are impressive.

We walked through some of the Left Bank neighborhoods, and eventually made it back to our apartment. Paris is lovely, but it's definitely a city, and we are equally definitely not city people. A couple of days will be plenty.
