The first challenge is disassembling and packing the bike. Here are pics of just the bike pieces, and then with panniers and our bike clothes (in the little duffle bags) added. It's all in there, and each suitcase is coming in under 50 pounds.
May 20 we fly. Paris for a few days, then train to Orleans. We'll assemble the bike there and start touring. We'll ship the suitcases from Orleans to our end point in Mulhouse.
